NRHA Statement on the Rural Health Transformation Program NOFO
The National Rural Health Association (NRHA) welcomes the release of the Rural Health Transformation Program Notice of Funding. This unprecedented federal investment in rural health directs $50 billion toward prevention, access, workforce, technology, and care innovation, mirroring NRHA’s priorities.
NRHA applauds the Administration’s recognition that rural communities need resources to strengthen sustainable access to care and improve health outcomes. It will be essential to ensure that rural hospitals, which serve as lifelines in their communities, receive a fair share of this funding to maintain access and strengthen local systems of care.
At the same time, NRHA emphasizes that the one-time funding, while significant, cannot by itself secure the long-term stability of rural providers. Without continued policies that guarantee sustainable reimbursement, rural hospitals and clinics will remain at risk. This program is an important step forward, but it must be paired with durable reforms that ensure rural Americans have reliable access to care for years to come.
NRHA looks forward to working with Administration, Congress, and state partners to ensure the Rural Health Transformation Program serves as a foundation for lasting improvements in the health and wellbeing of rural communities.
