NRHA Announces New State Rural Health Transformation Program Resources
PRESS RELEASE
National Rural Health Association
May 20, 2026
Following the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ announcement of the Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) Year One awards, states began rolling out funding opportunities and requests for proposals to implement their approved initiatives. This includes identifying vendors, contracting with implementation partners, soliciting applications for grant opportunities, and beginning investments aligned with their approved RHTP plans. Year One funding runs through September 30, 2026, and CMS expects states to submit their first formal reports beginning October 1, 2026.
NRHA is excited to introduce our latest resources on the Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP). In order to track state funding opportunities, NRHA launched a calendar with upcoming funding deadlines for each state. Additionally, NRHA created a map to provide a visualization of where states are in terms of their roll out process of RHTP Year One funding. Finally, NRHA also compiled a directory of RHTP state contacts to provide you with a list of RHTP contacts for each state.
NRHA appreciates this investment to rural communities through the RHTP and is excited to see the transformative work that states are leading, come to fruition. We will continue working with CMS and state partners to ensure that rural facilities and community-based organizations are positioned to benefit from these investments.
